Walker was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is of African American heritage, and is an American. She is the daughter of Harvey Welker, a Native American father, and Julie Welker, an African American mother. The father of the family is an engineer while her mother is a realtor. Walker was educated in the Germantown Friends School located in Philadelphia's Germantown area where she graduated in 1994. When she graduated of Harvard College in 1998, she went to Harvard College and earned her Bachelor of Arts. Welker and John Hughes, a famous marketing director of Merck Philadelphia who is married to two kids together. The couple was spotted in 2014 having an affair. John her husband, who is 4 years younger than her. The relationship was enjoying itself and they decided to keep their friendship going. The couple was married on the 4th of March 2017. They were married at the city of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Their wedding was massive at the Hyatt hotel. A few friends and family members were invited. Around 300 people were at the event. Her career in acting started after she was discovered by a talent scout, and despite being offered a tiny role in the Disney series The Thirteenth Year she made her presence felt with a stunning non-verbal performance. Following that, she was offered parts in films like The Safety of Objects Cold Creek Manor Catch That Kid Undertow into The Wild Snow White and the Huntsman and On the Road.
