Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football with volunteer work in the community. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of the nine children raised in Eufala by Lucious Selmon. A second reason was his father was the only of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the most effective lineman in the US. Lee Roy won two championships, and 32-1-1 in his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. A third scholarship saw him named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree as an educator. Fourth service In college Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Also, he began an entrepreneurial career. He was an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as a member of the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of America's most outstanding young men. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing the hefty 256 pounds at college when he was a player, captained his team throughout 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma awarded it.
