April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is one of a few female players of beach volleyball who have achieved this feat. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and is set to join her in Tokyo. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. As she turns 39, it could be her final chance to take home an Olympic gold. She remains optimistic that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. If we perform at our very top or perform well, I think we can get that gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. "I'm also going to try some luck." Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents and sister were residents in the area. The athletic pursuits she pursued was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of different sports. As a prep-athlete she played indoor volleyball and track. In her final game she was clearly the standout. As per her biography, during high school she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setting (outside blocker). Her efforts were recognized by her being named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions players of the year. The skills she showed in volleyball also won her the Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. While Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight from 2017 onward, the former was already a big-time player on the beach scene long before their pairing. She has won major competitions with different players. A couple of those has become an icon of the world of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to the year 2013. Together with Kessy Ross, she won a World Title in 2009 while competing internationally. The duo would go on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross participated in the USC Trojans in college after graduating from the high school she attended. It was a successful career for Ross in the school. The year 2000 was her freshman year. was when she won the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Award and also be named an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans to make it to into the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated through a tragedy in her life during her second year, but she went on to be an All-American once more. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. For her part, she cemented her place as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the best female volleyball players at colleges across the United States. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Sadly, Ross mother Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the top levels of beach volleyball superstardom. As of 2001, when Ross was in her sophomore year in USC her mother died of breast cancer. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie at the beach as well as in everyday life, inspires her.
